I used to repair English sports cars in a prior life as well and could have used that Lucas item many times for burn't harness wiring because I also saw lots of examples of smoke escaping.
As an update to my original post.

I got lucky! I found a retired appliance tech that had an exact fit brand new NOS magnetron and we were able to repair the microwave.
No cabinet rebuild necessary.
