Major elec problems.

Issues I am having. When breaker for converter is turned on , It blows my 15amp "kitchen" fuse HARD. All other 12V items are fine. converter seems to be working perfectly. That wire that the fuse is attach too goes out to a small box on my frame where it goes to the slideout and then to a loom that goes up into the trailer wall. I ran that wire to the slideout section to isolate which side is bad and it doesn't blow the fuse on the slideout part. I attach that 12v wire again to the one going in the loom and its fine on 12v when breaker is off but when on it blows. My fridge, range hood and furnace do not work at all. With battery on or off. Converter on or off. I don't even know where to start looking. I have 12v power going into that line with out the converter why would it blow when its on. Its still 12 volt. I jumped that wire in the box to another terminal and it blew that one as well . Any thoughts? its a 35amp older one.

  • The stuff going to the slideout works fine. My water pump works as well. The wire that's bad is romex and runs into coregated conduit up into the wall..... Like I said AC or Heater does not kick on now. No fan no nothing
  • your kitchen is in the slide out section ?

    12vdc kitchen fuse blows ?

no 12v for kitchen items ?

does your water pump work ?

    could be bad water pump
    OR
cut/shorted wire pinched by slide out
  • Ok. My bad. I went though everything and I noticed a fuse sparking when I was moving it around and contact was not good. Everything but the ac and furnance works. I have a Hunter t stat so it bypasses that 12v but nothing kicks on even when jumped. But again when the converter breaker is put on it blows my first 15 amp fuse labeled Kitchen. It blows it when attached under the frame inside a little box to romex looking wire.
  • Have you replaced any lamps recently? Could be wrong lamp shortingout in the socket.
I am surprised that the furnace and refer are the same fuse as general 12 volt items such as the lights and fan.
  • With the fuse blown, do a thorough check of what is not working. Then turn all of those items off. Make sure you have plenty of fuses. Once everything is off put in a new fuse. Go to the furthest item from the box and turn it on. If the fuse does not blow that is not your problem. Turn it off again and go to the next item. Continue toward the box until you turn on something and the fuse blows. This should narrow down the area of your problem. I just went through this last week. The problem was an overhead light. After removing that light from the ceiling I noticed a metal panel the wires went under. The wire rubbed through under that metal panel. Just read your post again. Breaker is kicking not fuse. Good Luck.
