Your shade boundaries will shrink quite a bit when you elevate the modules. Remember, the photo voltaic surface is on the top of the module frame so if you leave 2" to the bottom of the frame and the frame is 1 1/2" in height, your cell surface is nearly 3 1/2" above the roof.
When I put up my antennas (TV and radio)up they pass a shade line across the panel when parked at a certain orientation and at some part of the day. It doesn't seem to be that much of a power loss. This Winter, my tilted module has days where the bottom of the module is covered in snow, sometimes entirely covered. With half the surface covered, the module is still harvesting but not full harvest. That isn't an issue in a storage situation.
