I found this earlier and I have it connected that way. When I do, the fan will only come on if I switch to cool. The compressor doesn't come on. If I turn off cool and switch to fan on, it doesn't come on.
I am thinking now that something in the relay box in the ceiling is fried. At this point, I am thinking that considering the age of the unit, I might be best off replacing it. What say you?
As to why I removed those, during disassembly, I had to get all the wires for the fan motor out of that black sleeve. It's my fault, I should have taken a pic of the setup, but didn't. Who knows, I probably fried it during reconnection.
