But what about during the colder, darker months? Solar will be less available, and higher (than 14.4) charger voltages will be in order. The pd will not meet the OP's needs in this case, where the mod pm will.
And yes, in a pinch, the mod pm could serve as a converter, as well, simply by lowering its voltage to a suitable level. And the pm3's float at 13.2v, so a mod pm3 could surely be dialed down to 13v, or so.
Or am I missing something?
