These are 95% highway miles, with Quicksilver staying in Las PeƱas. Gotta be smart RV'ing down here. 223 miles to Patzcuaro. 19 gallons of fuel towing the Spirit, Spirit uses 9.7 Diesel is $3.60 gallon, premium gas is $3.33. Toll for car, $11.42, Toll for Quicksilver + car $36.70 RV park charge $27.00/day. RV park is three miles outside of town near a busy highway.
Hotel cost is 14.00 dollars a day. Downtown on the plaza. Many small comedores in the open market. Pig out for four dollars. Take snacks back to the hotel room. They have satellite TV for the History Channel, the Discovery Channel and The National Geographic channel. When rooting around the market and stores the room restroom is only steps away. This is especially important during Semana Santa and a half dozen fiesta weekends. In toll charges alone, it costs me almost three hundred dollars (total 5 axles) to make it to the Arizona border.
And THAT is why Quicksilver sits. And the toad tires wear out. The original purchaser's daughter told me when I bought the car "Dad complained to the dealer about the tires from the day he bought the car, new" I paid 600 dollars for the car when it had just 14,000 miles on the odometer. It gets 27 mpg and is so ugly, no sicario (gunman) would even dream of stopping me, never mind carjack it.
I am NOT going to pay another cent for a laser machine alignment check. Bob Salisbury who I have known for close to 60-years is the owner now of The Concord Safety Center in Concord CA. He has a $100,000 BEAR alignment machine plus a fantastically expensive frame straightening machine. He told me in no uncertain terms "The Dodge K cars SUCK when it comes to front tire wear".
195X70X14" tires are like group 34 batteries to find down here. Difficult to impossible. Further down WAY further down where I actually live, it is a nightmare. And ZERO membership warehouse honors warranties between Mexico and the USA. Direct info from Costco in Washington and direct from Wally-Wacko in fried-chicken n grits, land.
I'll take my chances with the cracking because when the tires wear through the steel belt "Trouble's A Brewing" Silicone lubricant spray is a natural rubber preservative. The new tires are going to take a periodic bath in it.
