Petroleum? Yukko!
The silicone spray I use does not have a petroleum carrier. It uses esters an alcohol based forumula. Silicone dielectric grease would be pricey but lasts a long time. The secret is to rub it hard into the sidewalls. Old man Kelley just about had a heart attack when I purchased a 35 lb bucket of silicone grease for the boat. Four miles of wire pass 130' through the length on the starboard conduits. When cheched in 2011 the wires were still slippery. We had to use a come-a-long to pull the wire. The 37- conductor 16-gauge is rubber insulated.
I'll treat the tires before they are mounted. But I keep petroleum of any kind far away from my tires.
