Guess I just do not understand why anyone is using a MPPT controller with a nominal 12Vdc panels connected in parallel
I see/hear of many installations including AM solar installs with several 100% parallel connected 100 watt nominal 12Vdc panels (sometimes 600 watts or more) which include a MPPT controller, never have understood why.
Anyone know???????????
PWM controllers work great for systems with nominal 12Vdc panels in parallel - no need to go to a MPPT controller in that situation.
Now when using higher voltage panels or wiring panels in series to obtain a higher voltage the MPPT controller is the only way. Each of them have their place. Try connecting a PWM controller to a 40Voc array with a 12Vdc battery bank.
