Parallel is shade tolerant.
Your putting too much emphasis on the size of cables. The cable runs in a RV are short; perhaps 15 ft. The cost of bigger cables isn't significant.
You pay the piper somewhere. Go with higher voltage and charge controller efficiency drops.

I see/hear of many installations including AM solar installs with several 100% parallel connected 100 watt nominal 12Vdc panels (sometimes 600 watts or more) which include a MPPT controller, never have understood why.

Yes typical RV cable runs are less than 20ft or so one way run
Was asking why so many installations including the AM Solar installs use a MPPT controller as compared to the lower cost PWM controller for the parallel nominal 12Vdc array.
