When the Krauts, put their mind to making an excellent product, they do not screw around. Grundig was such a product and the old Winco cast iron wind turbine generator was another which had German immigrant designers.
They worked. No excuses. No extended warranty. No 24 hour hot line. If you screwed up bub you found yourself out of business.
But I must confess the Germans have been blessed only once with a good line of batteries Sonnenschein. And when I lived a mile and a half in the sky I had to deal with German idiocy in automotive alternator and starter motor design. They had chronic severe SFLA when designing diesel engine electricals. Sudden Frontal Lobe Atrophy.
Not for vehicles, but there is a company here in the states that designs their own radio circuits then assembly takes place in Panda Land with strictly controlled component designating. C. Crane Co. Their stuff works exactly as described and stays working.
