Yes, Crutchfield is a good discount place.
Need to decide what.
I'm lost here: to have FM, music from laptop and movie sound (picture goes to TV), I need a receiver with a good FM tuner and easy Aux switch on front panel. Inputs HDMI (better) or 3.5mm. Sound goes from laptop to receiver via HDMI, 3.5mm or RCA. Then HDMI pass-through from receiver to TV (for video), or VGA/SVGA directly from laptop or Kodi box. Right?
Something 2*50W or less, 50-18000HZ audio (before speakers, need to upgrade those too). Remote not important (almost not desirable). I'm sitting/standing close to receiver, easy to adjust the sound or turn on/off. I could live with 3.5mm input.
Size, fitting in the old hood - not important as long as it's not 2-ft wide monster.
CD? No. I used to like having them on the shelf, can see what is what, no need to turn bright distracting screen on and browse through Kodi or whatever, using brain, eyes and fingers/remote, but I think this technology is on the way out.
