My wife is gonna kill me, please help

Hi all, just bought a used trailer so we r brand new to owning an RV. A 2011 Milan Eclipse to be exact. Anyway, the light-up flame electric fireplace, which is very pleasing to look at, won’t turn on. My wife is going to kill me because it was one ‘must have’ for allowing me to buy it. It came with an extra bulb, but I can’t get it to do anything when I turn it on. Any recommendations? Is there reset buttons, a fuse inside, or anything else that isn’t in plain site?

    Do you have power going to it either 12 V or 120? Did it work before?

    Jerry, thanks. Yes, I have it plugged into an outlet right now, at our house, as well as having 2 brand new deep cycle batteries installed. The owner told me it was electric only, as opposed to propane.

    Jerry, I bought it without trying it out so Im not sure if it worked before or not and this is why my wife may kill me.

    Look by the control panel for a switch. Some campers with30 amp service have a switch that switches the power from the air conditioner to the fireplace preventing both from running at the same time and not overloading the circuit breaker. Hope this helps.

    Hi, you didn't give us the name brand of the fireplace. Generally there is a built-in safety circuit that prevents the unit from turning on if the fan area is too dusty restricting air flow. Take a vacuum and clean the back of the unit. And if equipped with a filter,clean that as well. Hopefully it should work again.

    The brand will help. Ours has two buttons on opposite sides, on the bottom under a flap. The fan must be on before the fireplace heater and light will turn on.

    Google rv fireplace or search on Ebay. Check the dimensions and look at the pics, they are only $100+

    I’m sorry that your wife is going to kill you ;). I can’t help because that would be illegal, but I know someone she can call for help :B
