Napa Deep cycle verses Dual purpose

Well, which is it ?
In my bass boat I have been lightly deep cycling a marine starting battery for 5 yrs, and it finally went south.
Guy at Napa (been there 11 yrs) says, no difference tween DC and DP, and had a DP loaded in my car, before I saw it was a DP, instead of the deep cycle like I asked for. And then he wanted to argue about it. He didn't have a true deep cycle in the Napa brand, so I ended up w/ a "Armor Plate" deep cycle 5 bucks cheaper. I asked who made Armor plate, and he said....Armor plate has been making batteries for years, ????? He wasn't happy about the whole thing, and neither was I, and should have told'm where to go. Got home, and googled Armor Plate batteries, seen they are made by East Pen Decca. So then I felt better about the purchase. I use only 1 battery in my boat,...the DC should be good for starting a 25hp Honda and trolling. I'm surprised the starting battery did it for 5 yrs w/ no problem.
Oh, the point of the post was,....do you believe how ignorant a long time parts guy can be ??
