Hi all,I just liked to say first off that this forum is awesome. I have (with no prior knowledge) replaced black iron pipe (and troubleshot a months long LP issue), my water heater, my furnace, my toilet, and my shower fixtures. All successfully :) Now it's time for the big project I have been putting off but I cannot any longer. Basics..Rig is a 1984 Hi-LoProject: remove, replace, and modify shower pan.This is what the shower pan currently looks like. The issue is the stupid seat that is in it. The measurements for LxW are normal. 36x24 so finding a pan the right size is not a problem. This is what is under the pan. Now the only issue I see is that part of the pipe sticking straight up. I am guessing that is some sort of vacuum/venting but I don't know for certain. I do know that in order to get a normal pan WITHOUT the seat which is what I want that part of the plumbing has to go. So I have two questions. 1. Any recommendations on re-plumbing this so I don't mess anything up and 2. Any recommendations on where to get a shower pan? I use RV Parts nation for pretty much everything but they're pretty limited. Thanks in advance.

What is the problem with the current shower? Can you remove it, and then place it back after repairing the plumbing (I'll assume that is the issue?)If you decide to do the job, it would be greatly appreciated if you took lots of pictures, and wrote about the job....we love those kinds of threads, and you will find that you get lots of help ans suggestions from all of us! :)

You can see in the pics that mold has started underneath so I can't use it anymore until I get a new pan in. I also (even if I wanted to which I don't) cannot find a shower pan like the one I am taking out.

Here are some RV tubs with seat. Searched for using Bing because I hate Google.Looks like the black pipe sticking up has an air admittance valve. Since you have a hi-lo and can't have a permanent roof vent it acts like a roof vent to keep the pipe from vapor locking and not allowing the water from flowing out of the tub. It acts as a check valve by allowing air into the pipe. There is a rubber seat the closes to keep stinky air from coming back into the trailer from the black tank.It may have been cheaper and easier to put the air admittance valve under the tub seat, but you might want relocate it if possible since they do go bad and located under the tub is a bad place to have it if it does go bad unless you can get to it without pulling the tub out.

The vent stack if it has one can actually drop enough pressure to let a vacuum happen. If you unscrew the top piece and look inside it's just a simple rubber flap type seal. It opens when the tank drains to relieve the vacuum and seals otherwise. It can be anywhere in the line, the closer to the tank the better.

Yep it's there so when you dump the grey tank the rush of water leaving doesnt pull the water out of the P trap for the shower too. Okay so I am gathering that I can't simply cap it off correct? I have to have it in the line somewhere?

You may be able to put a "tee" where the vacuum breaker is, but turn it 90-degrees, towards the wall, then a piece across the bottom, and then an elbow up at the wall with vacuum breaker moved.
There may be enough room, depending on the tub, and how it sets from the wall.

You just want to have that vacuum breaker in place somewhere above the drain.

I'm sorry I just thought about something. It was said that the air admittance is there for when I flush the grey water tank. What if I never do? Meaning the rig is parked and hooked up all the time. I just leave the grey water tank open. The black water tank I still use and flush daily.
