This bolts on the tongue of my 2002 Coyote hybrid, a wire comes from the positive battery terminal then another goes into the camper frame. I was hoping it was something I could pick up locally, if I knew what to ask for...

Probably a fuse or circuit breaker.

Self resetting circuit breaker available at any autoparts store.Trick is finding the amp rating on the side. Look for a 30, 40, or 50 as most common.They don't always come with the plastic boot cover. Liquid brush on electric tape could substitute.Although I prefer a manual reset breaker such as Bussmann Hiamp.

Ugg, there's nothing readable on the sides or back. I wonder if it's in the original paper work anywhere? Is there a common size?

Any marking will be on the metal case under the red cover.Number will be part of a short string not alone.OK, what wire size is connected? Or what is the converter amp rating or model number.Worst case go small with a 30 amp.

Something missing here...you can't run one end to the positive lead of the battery and the other lead to chassis ground....

Running forty amps through this breaker would be like putting 2-ply tires on your trailer. Those studs are # 10 X 32

Use a surface mount manual reset breaker. For a truck charge lead line, with 10 gauge wire it is silly to think of anything rate more than 30-amperes. You do NOT want a auto-reset breaker on the truck side. A short will eventually drain the truck battery to 00.00 volts, and is a constant liability whether the trailer is connected or not. I do NOT like auto reset breakers in a position where they can Dracula a battery or bank right into the grave.

It didn't. I'm going to paint my tongue and it's all rusted up so I just want to replace it.

Ok, I guess i'll go with 40, I found an identical one at grainger and they only go up to 40, thanks for the help!!

A 40 amp will work fine. Available at most automotive parts stores.

With #8 then a 40 or 50 is fine.

Sorry, by "camper frame", I meant it goes to the camper wiring system, it's definitely not a ground.
