Need replacement Thetford lid--update with pics

I need a replacement toilet lid. Where's the cheapest place to get one? Ebay, Thetford replacement parts, somewhere else?

Actually the LID is OK -- it's the plastic hinges that are broken off but I *think* they're molded into the lid.

Just looking it seems like the lids run around $30. Would it be better to just replace the entire toilet?

  • The flange should allow for some rotating to place the stool in the correct position, unless it was installed so that the flange attachment slots are positioned incorrectly. In that case, you will need to remove the pipe to the tank and reinstall the mounting flange in the correct position.

One side of my Thetford Aquamagic lid hinge was broken. I tried my whole arsenal of adhesive on that plastic and nothing seemed to hold, long-term. I finally drilled small holes in each piece and installed two double-pointed shafts that were heated and fused to the parts. That, along with epoxy, is proving to work. The OP looks to need the whole enchilada, EBay is going to be the cheapest, I would think.
  • We busted our Seland toilet seat for the second time in two seasons. I'm going to our local Ace and Do-It-Best stores to look for a replacement, rather than going 20 miles across the valley to battle with the Skagit River Bridge detour traffic to get to Lowes, Home Depot or CW.

I figured out why they broke, and have a question about toilet attachments to the floor. Like many toilet compartments, ours is a square box with a raised floor across one corner, where the toilet is located. The raised floor runs across the corner at 45 degrees, but for some reason the toilet is about 15 degrees off line from the diagonal. This means one side of the raised lid hits one wall while the other side is still about 1.5" away from the other. If you lean on the lid, it twists and breaks the hinge.

Is the floor attachment adjustable, so I can get the toilet on the diagonal and symmetrically positioned relative to the walls? It would be turning the water hook-up on the toilet closer to the hose fitting on the floor.
  • Use GOOP AMAZING SEALANT. Ten times stronger than what a new toilet seat hinge will offer and four bucks. This stuff is incredible. Nothing else like it. No mixing. Splop and wait.

  • This is where the hinges are broken off from the toilet itself. It's a Thetford Aqua IV hand flush low profile model.

Does anyone know if I can replace just the lid & seat?
  • PPL Motorhome parts is the best source for RV parts and supplies on line. Great service and the people that answer the phone know RVs.

www.pplmotorhome.com look for the part tab at the top of the home page.
  • I bought mine at Home Depot. Cheap plastic. Just measure the hinge hole size.
  • I bought a replacement seat/lid for the fifth wheel and later the motorhome. Both same brand and made of wood and they are much better that the plastic originals. Got them at Home Depot or Lowe's, but can't recall the brand.
  • Many RV toilets use normal residential size lids. If you measure it you may find you can get a nicer and stronger lid at someplace like Home Depot.
