Thetford Aria Toilet replacement

So my electric toilet won't open up and flush. Thetford Aria.
I thought I would get a manual one that fits the same footprint.
The Aria Classic has the same footprint, great.

The cost for the manual one is $500, same price as the electric one.

How can that be ?

Anyone have a cheaper toilet that fits the same footprint ?
  • Ours did the same thing and we replaced ours with the Aria Classic. Just after the warranty ran out the foot pedal mechanism broke. We had to have it repaired at our expense. They had to remove the toilet to repair it! The other manufacturer Dometic-Sealand isn't much better. The Aria Classic Hi Profile in bone matched the other configuration. The Aria Classic is on sale for $469 at PPL Motorhomes. We didn't find any other toilet that would fit. Dometic had one similar but it had the flush pedal on the right and we had a wall there so it wouldn't work.

Thanks, what a rip off for a manual toilet $500. unreal !
  • Agree! plus we paid for installation. Dometic does make some cheaper ones but I worry about quality plus we didn't check to see if they would fit. Maybe ask a good RV service facility?
  • Why not just replace the mechanism in your existing toilet. We have used the Aria in our coach as full timers since 2005 and I wouldn't trade it for any other model that we have had in prior coaches. I have replaced the mechanism twice in all these years of daily use. it's not a difficult task although the toilet has to be removed. Cost for the kit is approx $150, but much cheaper than a new toilet. Do an online search to find the best price.

The parts to replace are $175, plus install, so maybe $300 to $350 total.
And just week the control board went out on the same toilet.

That is $175 part plus labor to install.

Add it all up and a new one is about the same
