Greetings:I just won the lottery.Really.I have been fighting Michelin and my dealer over the tires (LTX LT225/75 R16) that came with my new 2011 Forest River 29' Sunseeker Class C. The unit only has 972 miles on it, including 434 delivery miles.NYS requires an annual inspection, and in April '12 I took it in and the mechanic/inspector told me the tires weren't safe to drive. FF to April '13, same thing.I just discovered a post on the GS site that indicated Michelin had issued a recall for my tires. After calling Michelin, I confirmed that the numbers on my tires were covered.My dilemma:What tire do I replace them with? Or, better yet, what tires should I NEVER even consider? What tire is the safest (approx. 13,000 lbs. loaded)?Help!!!Thanks again, hope to be on the road soon.

If Michelin is paying for them then you will get Michelins again. What did the inspector claim was wrong with the OE tires?

Unless the tires were physically separating, and if so you wouldnot have made it home on them, that inspector must have radar vision.I, too, would like to know what the inspector found wrong.According to the reports I read Michelin voluntarily recalled approx. 1.2 million of these tires in the USA. They only had about 200 that actually failed, and no injuries nor deaths.With that low percentage of returns, I strongly doubt you had 4 tires that you 'inspector' could honestly determine unsafe to use.

Firestone Transforce would be my choice.

I'd get the Michelins. I've put them on most of the vehicles I've owned and never had an issue - plus they generally take very little weight to balance. After all that I would use them again even if one batch had problems.

Well if they are covered by Recall.. You don't replace them. Michelin does and with they will use the same tire only better made (one hopes).

XPS Ribs. You could try the BF Goodrich Commercial TA's, but there was a recall on them a couple years ago. I blew out four of them on my truck last year. Had no problem so far with the RIBS.

Are you planning on using the RV this winter. If not wait for the free new Michelin's, don't forget the spare if you have one.
We have had Michelin XPS Ribs for over a year now and would recommend the upgrade over the LTX.

Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor has an excellent LT/225/75/16/E rated same as yours.
Do not get wider tires on a dual axle.

If I couldn't get Michelin, I would try for BRIDGESTONE Duravis R250.
All steel cord tire. Very durable.
