New AC Install

My 2022 Kountry Star 3412 is currently in the shop at a Newmar Service center for the front AC replacement to the new Freshjet 5. They are having trouble getting it to work. I know Dometic tech support is involved in this conversion with the service techs but they're all scratching their heads on this one. The old Penguin II has a failed control board and other issues. My extended warranty is covering the repair thankfully but hoping this gets resolved soon.

  • You got a quarter million $ RV at a shop that doesn’t know how to hook up an air conditioner?  It’s not like they assemble them from scratch. It’s plug the hole with a new unit and connect the wires.
If I had to ask on the shops behalf why they can’t figure out something this simple, I would not only be embarrassed for the shop but I’d be finding a new shop.

It's a problem industry wide with those updating there Dometic CCC2 Penguin II AC/Heat Pump to the new Dometic Freshjet 5. The new Freshjet is not CCC2. It's more than just getting the RJ 11 to RJ 45 conversion cable. Read up on it my friend.

seems pretty easy for the most part, new thermostat, control moduals for any old AC's being left in place and a rj11 to rj45 adapter.  Dometic says if there is any issues to call them and they will help fix the issue.  as for the ccc2 to ccc3 the moduals take care of that for the older unit and the new unit and thermostat are already ccc3.  prety simple upgrade especial if you only have one AC or if you are replacing them all.  I kinda agree with Grit, newmar shoudl know enough to get the basics down then call dometic for any issues they are running into.
