If we were meant to leave well enough alone, The Wright Brothers would have been content to just have a nice day at the beach flying a kite!
If Newton didn't overthink things, we wouldn't have been able to set foot on the moon!
Tinker away my fiend, tinker away! Its only human to do so.
The insides of RVs get hot enough as it is, deterring a little more heat from entering would be a good thing. I would even go so far as to cover the whole baffle, especially if the baffle is just wood. It will reflect more radiant heat out toward the vent.
And while I am over-thinking it. I would look into adding two or (if you have the room) three 12v computer fans blowing out of the vent to remove the heat. RV refrigerators work better with good ventilation. The side vented model don't create a good convection current and won't work as efficiently as they should. Adding the fans will help with that. Do a Google search to figure out the best placement for your set up.
WARNING!!! Once you start tinkering you won't be able to stop. Its addicting! But, hey its only money! Have fun!!!
