No heat or AC

I have a 2013 Fleetwood Excursion RV and was recently camping when the AC and heat woul not come on. I checked the gas line, breakers and turned it off for 5 to 10 minutes. When I turned it back on the lights got bright and the heat tried to come on but did not. I would like to also note the awing reteacted and would not extend out again at about the same time. The only thing running was the TV and lights at the time. I've had the inverter and batteries checked but I wonder how well they did. Anyone got any ideas?

  • If the battery is at 12.6v at the battery posts when not charging, and the lights are dim, then you have a wiring problem. Since the lights got brighter when you "turned it back on" it seems like your converter is working. Maybe your battery is simply discharged. Depending on your converter it can take a long time to recharge your batteries.

Just noticed the date on your post, so maybe you have solved the problem. How about some feedback???
  • Agree with others that it sounds like low battery power.

Most tire outlets will load test your batteries for free -- even though you had your inverter and batteries "checked out" I would drop by and have the batteries retested. You should also check to make sure that battery connections are tight and not corroded - same with grounds.

Don't know much about how the MH's work but all the things you describe is BATTERY RELATED. Need to measure battery DC VOLTAGE at the terminals with the DC disabled going to your appliances and lightning. They should read 12.6-7VDC if fully charged and will read 13.6VDC if you are connected to the on-board converter/charger unit and plugged into shore power or running off your generator.
