Noisy hot water heater burner

The burner on our hw heater sounds like a jet engine taking off. The burner tube is clean and gas pressure is good. The more air I adjust into the burner tube, the noisier it gets. Even with the air adjusted back to where the flame is slightly more yellow than I think it should be, when I close the door to the compartment, after a few minutes, the noise resumes. Any suggested remedies would be much appreciated.

  • I can assure you that it is better to hear it than not to hear it.
  • They tend to be loud adjust the flame so it burns clean and as efficiently as possible.

  • They tend to be loud .. next time out camping invite you neighbor to listen and get his opinion.
  • They all sound like a flame thrower or jet engine. Mine is loud when you are standing outside by it but inside it is quite. Your propane heater will sound the same way.
  • Yes seems to be the case. I'd adjust to the proper flame and let the sound fall where it may. The only time I've heard mine be silent is when there was a spider web clogging the tube. At that time the flame was full yellow and sooty.
