Norcold 1210 4-door fan rapid cycling??

My 4 door fridge in kitchen slide has been working fine - until yesterday. We'd had a fairly warm day 85ish with the fridge vents in direct sun all day. It was evening and starting to cool down 75ish. The fridge stayed cold all day.

However, the fan on the heat exchanger started cycling quickly - never coming up to speed. It would run for 1/2 to 2 seconds before stopping for 1 to 2 seconds then repeat.

I switched it to LP and that made no difference. I turned it off for 30 seconds - when I turned it back on the fan immediately came up to speed for about 30 seconds, then started that crazy cycling again. The we turned it off for 5 minutes and it has been working fine since.

Is this something starting to fail? If so, what? If not, what's the cause?

  • Sounds like the snap-disc t-stat that controls the fan on/off is failing.

    Fridge in slide out?
May be able to get to it via top vent cover.
It is attached to a fin on upper condenser tubing.
Turns fan on at 130*F and back off at 115*F (condenser tubing temp)
