Norcold Failure

Hi there everyone,

We have a 2003 Allegro bus with a larger Norcold refridgerator. We just got home from being on the road. We found once the dust settled and we had everything hooked back up that the refrigerator had failed. There are no lights on the control panel and the fins seem to be loosing their coldness. I've checked and we have 12 volts to the unit as well as 110 volts. There is a 2 inch square module on the back of the fridge (accessed from the outside of the rig) that has four wires and there is a red light that is on.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might check?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! - Eric -

  • That high temp trip does so at roughly 700*F

Now maybe it has failed OR maybe it sensed a high temp excursion......

Chances are the box failed.......OR Maybe not.
    You feeling lucky?
  • That is the high temp cutoff light. I had that happen on my coach and an RV mobile service replaced it under warranty from Norcold.

They can be reset with a strong magnet on the face of box, but if you really do have an overtemp problem it is not suggested to do it.
  • thats norcold's high temp "fire hazard" recall fix.

was told that a heavy magnet placed on the face will reset the control ????

    don
  • The device you describe is the high temp shut off. When mine did that Norcold referred me to a repair technician to check the fridge and then replace the high temp shut off.
