Norcold not working on LP

Hey everyone.

So me and my family have a 96 Winnie with a norcold 6182 fridge. Last year the fridge worked on LP and on AC. Currently AC works fine and the fridge gets cold.

When I flip it to gas however it's a different story. I just get the red X on solid. No blinka nothing. When I go behind the fridge there is the pilot chamber on the right and two black boxes. The lower black box has the 120 plug going into it and the upper is the ignition control.

When I flip to gas the lower box clicks. That is the only click heard. When I open the pilot port hole there is NO SPARKS, additionally if I try to flip to gas and light manually nothing. My theory is whatever controls the release of the propane and the spark isn't getting the message.

It should be known that I am not super tech savvy but I'm not a fool, I like learning DIY things and can follow step by step instructions.

What could this be and is there a way to DIY it before going to a dealer. We plan to spend 9 days off grid and I don't wanna just run generator. Help!?!

Thank you all for your time!!

  • Only takes a small flake of rust to stop it from lighting... our last trailer had the problem, it all looked fine, but I blew it out with compressed air anyway. It lit right up. Not sure where the rust flake was, but when blowing it out, there definitely was some.
  • It might be as simple as blowing or vacuuming out the burner tube as stated above. On an older fridge the exhaust tube drops rust deposits on top of the burner preventing the burner from lighting. Good to try the easiest fix first.

    Not sparking...gas not flowing.
Ignition module or lack of DC

What's the best way to figure out the culprit or fix that. Guess us ignition misuse because when I flip to LP the lower power box is
triggered but the ignition module is still doing nothing.

See my 1st post ...info and link to diagnostic tests.
    Very detailed info.

Got my tools out and we are pulling over for a good 4 hours tomorrow and I'm gonna get at it. Thank you!

  • Clean out the burner tube. If you can do that without removing it, better. If you need to remove the tube, be prepared for replace the gas tubing going to the burner.

There's a spider that loves burner tubes for making nests.

    Can you light the stove?

Yep stove works perfect and the propane tank was just filled. The fridge worked in LP last year totally fine, now only when connected to AC.
