Maintenance free (AGM) batteries have been around for about 30 years now but just started to come into common use in the last 10 or so.
They are better than the standard wet cell batteries with caps.
They are designed NOT to be opened; don't try to defeat that.
They will only lose water if GROSSLY over charged, which is hard to do with standard chargers.
