If the antenna and wiring are good, it will work. It may not be as effective as a modern new antenna (i.e. have less range in poor conditions).
The RF signals for digital TVs are in the same frequency bands as they were for analog TV. The antenna system doesn't care at all what sort of information is in the carrier signal or how it is encoded. At that level, it's all just analog RF.
With the right adapters and whatnot, a TV antenna works very nicely for FM radio reception, too. The FM band is literally right in the middle of the VHF television band.
