'On the Go' water softening device- orange granules

Those were resin beads and they "collect" the minerals from the water. Then the salt and back flush flushes the minerals off the beads. So it depends on how many beads you lost to say how much the unit may have been degraded. I think.many water stores that sell water softeners an RO units,etc sell beads. I understand they are not cheap.
