Onan Carb Trouble

I have a Onan MicroQuiet 4000 generator that I have recently replaced the carb on it .
It runs great without a load BUT when you turn the AC on , it bogs the generator down.
Tried MicroWave and hair blow dryer and it bogs down also so its not the ac.
Need Help..
Thanks
Rick
  • Until the real experts on the Onans jump in, you can check carb to make sure the altitude knob isn't too high.

After that, I would look at choke and governor linkages, especially since you just replaced carb. Ex. It's common error to have autochoke linkage backwards

But again, some real pros here can likely get you squared away quicky if you post your model and serial numbers.

Suggest you Notify Moderator and ask that this thread move to Tech Issues. Several genset experts there. And, please Edit to include Model and Spec Numbers. If you post the full Model Number, that Spec will be the last character.

Meanwhile, are you getting good fuel flow to it? A porous rubber hose between tank and fuel pump would add air to the liquid gasoline, a weak pump of course wouldn't provide full flow. Neither would a clogged filter. the 4KY series usually suffers from carb problems but we've had a few fuel pump cases recently.
