Be sure to keep the whole old carb leaky float and all. If something goes wrong with the new carb, you can use that float to repair an otherwise running one. So drain it well and blow all the passages out. If you ever come across a float, you can have a Hot Spare. Or sell it as-is to somebody with a bad carb/good float.
I don't like throwing dollars at a problem like with a new carb, whole-new-whatever, when the issue's minor or unclear. Still, I can't blame you a bit for wanting to get your coach back to full functionality. We didn't use our genset much for a couple years futzing with carb problems. We've now had a good carb on it for a couple years and the convenience is wonderful. Need to develop the habit of using it more. When it's 90* and 90%, it's nice to run the coach A/C to finish packing, while hooking up the toad, setting up on campground, using dump station, stopping at park office... Having that capability, even to just microwave something... Maybe not Priceless, but sure NICE.
