onan generator 5500

Whats the full model number ?

Says code four is overcrank. Says, logic: controller unable to sense genset frequency after 30 secs of holding the switch. I never get a code if just hold the start switch for several seconds to try a start.

Checked the manual. 4 is not a valid code. There a 2, and a 3 and a whole bunch of others but no 4 or 44 or 22. om the manual.

Try again, it says if you get 3 blinks, (or perhaps this applies to 4 as well) touch the stop button again for the next digit.

Blinks four times. I held the switch down as it says in the manual. This is the only code i can get. I've bypassed the oil shut down switch and still no go??

Check your manual for the codes that your gen is giving you. it will give you an idea of issue, could be low oil, etc.
