Onan Marquis Gold 5500 Carburetor

Most people who have had one of these generators for a while have learned that Cummins / Onan do not offer many repair parts for the carburetor - the carb is considered a disposable part - so my question is - where do all the old carburetors go?

I had to change the fuel cutoff solenoid - one of the few replacable parts that Onan does offer - but in the process (it was a field repair, literally in a field...) lost the needle valve that sits on top of the solenoid. The needle valve and housing are NOT available as replacement parts.

So, I am looking for someone with a used carburetor for an HGJAB Spec C generator so I can get the needle valve out of it and fix my otherwise working carb.

Any responses or suggestions will be welcomed!
  • If your talking about that pin that's pulled in by the magnet the new solenoid didn't come with one you have to use the old pin and that's the one you lost.
If your near any large cities you could try to talk to a onan tech and see if they have a old one. You may can call Fred at gentech I think he's in Lockhart his number is
512-657-7811 . There's a lot of people here that have used him so they'll know if that number is right.
  • Onan says these carbs are not serviceable. Which means they don't stock parts for them. I took my "unserviceable" carb to a carb shop and they took it all apart and cleaned everything and made my not working carb into a working carb!
