Onan Quiet Diesel not cranking?????Error 46

Ok, so I recently just purchased a 2000 dutchstar motorhome with a 7500 quiet diesel gen set w/ 1600 hours on it.. When I go to start my gen. I get a blinking code of 3 blinks.. When I then push the stop button I get---4 blinks and then 6 blinks.. OK,so we have code #46 so that indicates low voltage.. I preceede to check all connections, voltage and all that good stuff, everything checks out OK, check all fuses related. All this to discover no change whatsoever. WHY??? I'm thinking I might have a bad board for the generator!!! Is this possible? Has anyone have any experience with code 46? If so could you please give me some advise? I don't know where to go from here, now where do I look to? Starter connection?? I don't know.. Called Onan and all they said is it sounds like you have a bad connections somewhere or low voltage...Well, I could have told you that, Onan tech support is crap..Waste of time even giving them a call. Any help would be appreciated..

  • The sensor might be misreading voltage through a corroded connection Remove the access cover, trace the harness to the main connector. One of more of the pins in that multi connector are going to be the voltage power and sense lead to the board. Shine up the pins and sockets and give it a whirl.
  • Have you load tested the battery. When you say low voltage I was thinking dc but its probably ac does it have brushes if so there probably getting pretty short at 1600 hrs.
