By the way, One if the issues with the "How many batteries" or "one or two, or 6/12 or whatever battery discussions....

Usually when we talk about six volt we are talking GC-2, six volt, 230 amp hours, true Deep cycle

But when it comes to 12 volts, I have some here just a few amp hours (AGM's) that I can easily hold in one hand... I have others in the 70-80 amp hour range I need two hands to wrestle in and out.. and I have some group 29s, just over 100 amp hours... An 8-D is around 250 amp hours. and Ive used 12 volt DEEP CYCLE flooded wet cells that were so heavy that they strapped it on a pallet, and loaded it on the trailer with the aid of a fork lift.

By the way. an identical battery powered the fork lift

That puppy tipped the scales at over 1,000 pounds.

So, it is very important to tell us WHAT 12 volt battery.

It may get in the way of the brake pedal...

If you don't mind paying more than you would for a generic deep cycle battery go for the biggest Trojan SCS 12V battery you can fit into your space. I use a single SCS200 (Gr 27)which is rated at 115 AH because I depend on my battery when we are dry camping in the Smokies. I don't think I would make it more than two days even with our conservative electrical usage. If we are camping in cold weather we only run the furnace in the morning not during the night. I recharge every morning because I want the battery to not be discharged any more than it has to. We really do need to know more about your electrical consumption to get you a better answer.

Go to a truck dealer, Peterbilt, etc and ask for a truck battery. Ought to run it for a week or so.

However I can point you to an answer.

If you have separate batteries for house and engine, Specified engine battery and the biggest DEEP CYCLE battery you can fit in the house tray (NO marine/deep cycle Marine/RV Deep cycle ok, note different placement of slash).

If you have only one battery.. The BIGGEST MARINE/DEEP CYCLE that will fit in the space provided.

NOTE: If the space provided will take a pair of GC-2 (Golf car) DEEP CYCLE batteries,,, Odds those will do the job too. They are big enough that for most engine needs they are good. Will explain.

Starting batteries are designed to dump large current (relative to total capacity) for short times, but can't take a decent discharge all that well.

Marine/Deep cycle are like starting batteries but slightly different construction means they can go a bit lower discharge wise without major damage.

True DEEP CYCLE are designed to provide lasting power over a much longer period of time, When your current draw goes to like 200% of their 20 hour amp hour ratind they start to get a bit.. unreliable.

But 100 amps, (A medium engine starting) is 133% of a group 24's 20 hour rating

It's less than 50% of a GC-2

If you decide to go with the AGM Group 31 and have a Sam's Club membership, they have one for $80 to $100 less than the going price. I paid $179 for mine (with a trade-in).

You could also get a portable 100 watt solar panel, two 50's that fold together. They put out about 5 amps, so even in winter you could get 25 amp hours back into the battery.
