It or the wiring is broken in that area, since you have already confirmed that the overhead lights work when bypassing it.

I don't know where this switch could be since I don't recall seeing it and there is very little distance between the panel and connector, but I will look as soon as I get home tonight.
I think there is some sort of kill switch under the galley. This would not physically be between the panel and post...but could this be the same switch you are referring to?
