oversized wiring to charge controller

I'm at that education stage to go solar.Reading every thing I can absorb. The controllers I have looked at all have a max. #6 ga. connectors. I want to run at least #4 ga. What is the best way to adapt? Or what is a proper controller that can handle the larger wire? My questions have only just begun.:-)
Thanks

Controller with #6 terminals sounds like something at least 30-35A. With that much solar people (usually) run panels in series and use MPPT controller, then wire to controller can be thinner.

Wire to battery is another thing.

Or what is a proper controller that can handle the larger wire?

What is your planned solar array?
