Paint the decals another color?
We will have a new ruby red color truck soon and would like to "tie" in the colors of our truck camper decals to match the red truck. I'm planning to mask and paint the decals to the new color. Ha...

You will never get a professional quality paint job on anything using a rattle can. It will always look like it was done with a rattle can. The only way to change the colors would be to strip off the decals and paint where they were. To have this done professionally and get professional looking results will cost hundreds of dollars. Anything less will look like junk. If it's really that important get some quotes from a bodyshop with a paint booth large enough to get your rig into. I disagree.
I've done paid-for-work with rattle cans. It takes dead air, lots of patience and lots of paint.
Alas, my paint booth cannot accommodate my camper.
The question is, what kind of paint, if any would be appropriate for over decals?
And can a custom rattle can color be obtained?
(Many people white-paint their exterior yellowed plastic trim (I've done it) and none have ever complained about it - so it's not a question of "if" it can be done.)
