- 2oldmanExplorer III guess that's why I see so many dry campers running generators.
Generators are easy to understand. Solar, batteries, inverter.. not so much. - DarkSkySeekerExplorer

Excellent point - for me, requires patience. - LantleyNomadYou politely explain that they recharge the batteries vs. actually providing power to a fixture or appliance.
Explaining how something works to a already learned person is easy. Explaining how something works to a layman is a challenge.
Intellectuals can converse with other intellectuals all day long.
However communicating with a lay person is often hard for them to do.

Hi 2oldman,
I politely say--they charge the battery bank.
From the battery bank I can run everything in my RV for about 1 hour. Or if am boondocking I'll run out of water before I run out of electricity.
"Boonwhating". That will be the next tutorial. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi 2oldman,

Yes, I hate generators in campgrounds that much. The ones who are seriously interested are willing to stick their head into the front storage area to see the numbers on the controller. No, they don't get to see the remote meter inside.

I tell them that the panels don't run things. They charge the batteries which in turn run the 12 volt items and the inverter.
At times, then I try to explain a bit more in depth. - bid_timeNomad IIDoesn't sound like you would be a very good advocate for solar power.

I guess the response depends on your "old man mood" at the time. If you're in a nice helpful mood you can politely explain how they charge batteries and then things "run" off the batteries. If you are in a grumpy old man mood, just tell them to get off your site.
If you are a Millenial, you say, "now what now"? - 2oldmanExplorer II
