Yes, this is how I understand it. And yes, just doing it will tell me either way.
At present I only own one of these units, and was hoping to figure out if a second unit would be of any real benefit (without getting into wiring in diodes). I just want to keep things as simple as possible, and am willing to pay a little more up front to do so (which could justify paying more for one 40a unit than for two 20a).
I have analyzed the various options, by looking at my daily needs, and how they vary throughout the changing seasons, coupled with 1)the genset power I have available, 2) my desire to make the very most of that power when the genset is running, and 3) my desire to minimize deeper discharges, and it turns out I'm best to run two chargers on two banks simultaneously, three seasons out of four, summer being the odd man out. And two of these units paralleled would draw 10a, leaving me only a couple amps available for the second charger set-up, so I probably will not end up paralleling two anyway. But I would like to know if the option is there, if need be.
