One thing needs to be explained because I have been lax.
CONVERTER: An RV power center which tries to be chief. cook and bottlewaher. Too often converters fail at correct battery maintenance charging. The ones that =seem- to do a good job or at least a better job are under heavy scrutiny in these discussions.
CHARGER: Just that. A device to recharge batteries. A charger can be dumb and keep charging and boil the batteries dry. Or they can try and be "smart" like the converters, and fail at that job just as badly. Other chargers seem to work better, like the converters the better chargers are under the microscope here.
POWER SUPPLY: Robot adjustable voltage battery chargers. Voltage is adjustable and controlled. Utterly up to the user to make this source of power useful. Some power supplies will quickly work themselves to death if they are adjusted "incorrectly". Others, that cost significantly more money can work at top peak load rating and not self destruct. Not for the faint of heart. Power supplies are of interest to try and correct the faults of converters and "smart" battery chargers that do not keep batteries properly charged.
BS DETECTOR: As always THE HYDROMETER for flooded batteries that slosh liquid inside.
And the saga continues...
