Determining if a PS is designed with adequate phase and gain margin. Is this something that can be determined by a casual examination of it's circuit layout?
Obviously my 22 dollar cheapowatts do not like each other
Thanks
No.
To determine gain/phase margin a known voltage magnitude with varying frequency is applied to the regulator input,
The output of the regulator loop that is compared to its reference is disconnected and the voltage magnitude and phase are measured, converted to dB's and angle, and then plotted for an entire frequency range.
High quality test equipment and patience is required.
This will not test for a disturbance - the other power supply trying to source or sink current when paralleled.
