Redundant supplies are out there..
Bounced across THIS ONE which is 12V at 78A output.. It was designed for some sort of redundant power supply array.
Redundant ready power supplies are designed to be able to load share and if one fails be able to take over until a replacement can be hot swapped.
I have worked on servers which had two and three redundant power supplies and it is nice to have the fail over be seamless.
Not sure however if the voltage could be tweaked up any for battery charging usage but at a mere $30 it isn't a bad deal if the voltage could be brought up.
