parasitic drain

My rv has a 12 volt valve for the propane tank with to much parasitic drain, is there a way to leave the valve in the open position without the battery drain? ( it has a manual shut off) I tried a large magnet, didn't seem to work. the only way to open the valve is with the switch on , using 12 volts.
  • I agree & will do that unless someone knows an easy way to keep this valve open.
  • If I had one of those on my camper, I'd be throwing it away and reconnect to a standard manual hose and pressure regulator.

I've never seen one of these in service before, but could you simply remove it from the line and plug your hose directly into the tank and that way you would not have it dependent upon a battery? In other words, go back to the manual old fashioned way?
  • First, you shouldn't jump to conclusions.
How do you KNOW that, have you measured it ?
What device does that valve serve ??

There probably is a 12 V valve so that the device can operate "automatically" and you wouldn't want to defeat it.
