PD 2100 Programs?

http://www.progressivedyn.com/news_pd2100.html

This says they are programmable. Any info on what that means exactly?

BoatandRV says they have a meter for amps and volts too. Any info on that?

http://www.boatandrvaccessories.com/products/progressive-dynamics-pd2150-converter

Being "marine" they cost a bunch. Seems they can withstand 16" gunfire under 10 ft of water compared with RV converters.

Anyway, is this really a converter with an ammeter same as you get with any old portable charger, plus you can program it--is it adjustable voltage? Or just set to Wets vs AGMs?

Too bad there's no pdf owner's manual.

Here are the Operation Manual and Owner's Manual for your pleasure in perusal.

It looks like all one can do is choose between three different profiles, not set up custom ones. They do have three separate outputs, which appear to me to be independently regulated but not independently controlled (that is, they're all in the same mode at the same time). There is also a display that shows (total) output current and (individual) output/battery voltages.

Thanks. Don't know why I didn't find that. IMO it is misleading for PD to say it cam be programmed. Oh well.

I see it says the battery fuse must be within 72" of the battery. That is 6ft of unprotected wire. A car audio shop guy told me the rule for cars is 18" in case a collision caused a short and a fire.
  • Output voltage can be FACTORY ADJUSTED to meet OEM requirements for various lithium ion battery chemistries and Voltages. Standard L Series voltages are set for 14.6- Volts to meet requirements for lithium iron phosphate batteries. Other chemistries may require different voltages.

The PD9100L Series can be wired in parallel to charge at much higher current rates. They can also be wired in series/parallel to charge 36, 48, 60, 72 and higher voltage battery packs at high charge rates.

yes. They do make an Li charger with single voltage. Problem is it's not 48 V.

Yes. BTW, I was looking at the Iota on Boat and RV that does 54.5v (without the IQ4 but just the Jack that goes in there if you use that.) Would that do your "55v" continuous close enough for Li?--too lazy to find your other thread on that.)
  • AFAIK, that's the real reason the US government is keeping those things. PD better watch out.

IIRC that place is called "San Pete." It was unfortunate they sent the battleships out to Pearl from San Pete just when they did prior to Dec 41.

Whenever I watch the Abbott and Costello navy movie made in earlier 1941, I keep saying , "Don't go, don't go!" but they go anyway. It was probably the Andrew Sisters' fault.
