Get one of these at Home Depot ($30) to monitor your voltage/wattage:

To attempt to prevent damaging power getting to your RV use a Progressive Surge Guard (Lifetime Warranty):

While the breaker on the pedestal is rated at 30 amps, realistically you can't draw more than 24 amps for any length of time. Either the breaker will warm up and trip or you'll burn the prongs on your connector and the pedestal's socket.
Limit your usage to two high current appliances and you won't have any problems. The A/C and the water heater for example. If you need to use the microwave, turn off the water heater till you're finished with the microwave. Same for a hair dryer or space heater.
