Poor design medicine cabinet - anybody upgrade?

In my new to me TT I just bought, it has a medicine cabinet on the bathroom wall. One of those cheap tin things with a mirror door.

Never gave it much thought until I opened the thing for the 4th time and had yet another avalanche of stuff all over the bathroom floor. And of course it is right above the toilet so I have to retrieve stuff from behind there...:M

This thing is a piece of junk!! I hate it! There is nothing to stop things from falling out when you open the door. The one in my old TT was way better. It had little cross pieces at the bottom to prevent things from falling out. Everything got tossed while driving but at least it seldom ever fell out.



So, has anyone upgraded their medicine cabinet to something functional for an RV?

Anybody got any great ideas for replacement?

I'm going to rip this thing off the wall and launch it into the nearest garbage bin!!!! OK, I won't rip it off, I will take the screws out! :B

    How about these with a little bungee cord across from side to side? Just KISS thought. They are at Harbor Freight and other places. Strong magnets.

    so everybody is saying that lowes/home depot have home style medicine cabinets that have raised front edges or other provision to avoid stuff falling off the shelves? Now they do have better looking ones, but these are NOT designed for mobile vehicle use.

    Try Home Depot or Lowes, we did in a former TT. Replaced over sink and added one above the toilet.

    My TT came with a cheap plastic medicine cabinet in it. I stopped at Menards a mile away from the dealer and picked up an oak one that was on sale that matched the rest of the cabinets. That was the first of many mods. 12 years later I still do several new things each year.

    get some of the expansive bars made for this. it is not the cabinets fault, they most all are built that way. so fix it.

    Our first TT had a cabinet like that. I got those little plastic cutlery trays in the kitchen section (Target or WalMart)and stuck velcro on them, then velcro to the cabinet shelf. You can get the trays in different lengths, so hopefully you could find ones for the length you need. It's a band-aid if you are really wanting a new cabinet, but would work in the meantime.

    It is ugly, poorly designed, not overly functional and it is the only cabinet that does not match the rest of the wood ones. I don't want to modify it - I want to junk it and replace it with a wood cabinet more suited for the task.

    I'm fine with a mirror door but even that isn't a must because there is a big mirror on the adjacent wall.

    Is it made of wood? Can you screw some eye hooks into the sides ??
    That's what I did to ours... a couple of eye hooks and a small bunge cord stretched across the front at the right height will keep things in place.
    (I have my plastic hair clips strung on that bunge cord.)

    On that lower shelf you can find a tray... like a single silverware tray (the kind that snaps together to organize an entire drawer... or go look at an office supply store for one.

    I had a plastic medicine cabinet in my Avion C-11 and I couldn't find a replacement. I had a new cabinet made out of stainless steel and I used the original door. Since I could make it any depth, I used up most of the room in the wall which made it much deeper.

    if I were you I would take it off the wall and make some light weight wood shelves with a front edge on them and then screw them into the cabinet before putting it back up
