Portable Air Conditioner

I am thinking of buying a portable a/c for the bedroom in my FW. Should be easy enough to vent it out the window and would only need a small one say 5000btu. They use approx 500 watts. Anyone have any experience with these?
  • 12000btu ones are running 1050 watts. These are the specs I am finding online. The 5000btu one that I looked at was I think 520 watts.

Iceman, I have zero RV experience, however i suggest you double check the power requirement for 5000BTU/Hr.
  • The one I have at the stick house evaporates the condensate out the hot air discharge - nothing to drain - ever. Only downside is it is a single hose, I would have preferred a dual hose unit. But the 80 mile each way to exchange it was a bit much.
  • I did a lot of research on these and from what Ive read they say to get one bigger than what you think you need. Also you need to decided if you should get the one with a drain tray or without.
  • I was thinking about doing the same thing with the MH....since the BR gets pretty cool, but the area up front, not so much. I'll be reading for replys:)
  • Son has one cools his pop up camper well but it's a bit more btu fairly quiet
You have to drain condensate fairly often or make some provision for it
    Good Luck, Mike
