You can thank your state for the new gas can nozzle design. They were one of the major proponents for the CARB standards that eliminated the easy and simple nozzles in favor of super complicated ones that supposedly save the environment somehow.
Btw, the nozzle is only stored inside the gas can for shipping, you're not supposed to store it that way once you put the can in service.
I bought two of the 5 gallon cans with attached funnel from Amazon at deep discount and really enjoy using them.
