possible regulator issue UPDATE

My Dometic fridge is not doing as well on propane as it does electric. I have blown out the burner and flu and checked the normal stuff. The flame is a pretty even blue but I am just not sure it is as big and hot (or loud) as it should be as the pipes do not feel as hot when running on propane. The trailer is an "03 and appears to have the original Marshall regulator. I am thinking the regulator is just old and worn out not allowing enough pressure on the gas line. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • With the water heater and furnace on, the range burners are jumpy with some yellow and smaller than I think they should be. I noticed this weekend I had to turn my Camp Chef stove up to medium to cook a hot dog. Normally I cook everything on low with that stove
  • Since you do not have a manometer. This is a quick test and usually will tell you the Regulator is failing. Turn on the Range burners. Turn on the Water heater and Furnace. Watch the Range burner flames. If they dwindle down or pulsate when the furnace and water heater start up and burners ignite and run, your regulator is BAD. Just 1 inch drop in LP pressure will cause loss of correct cooling. Doug
  • Yes I would replace any RV propane regulator over ten years old.
I like Cavagna brand. Replace the pigtails while you are at it.
