Power Max replacement board

I looked at the specs on go power 30 amp solar controller & it shows Temperature
Compensation - 4mV/cell*K Does that indicate is has temp. compenstation?

I place greater value on temp comp over multi-stages.

AGMs do tolerate 13.8V. AGMs can be maintained with an automotive alternator or automotive portable charger(not a deep cycle charger). Some chargers do have an AGM setting.

I charge AGMs with a two stage MS SS10 PWM solar controller. It is temp compensated and I leave it running year round.

Stage 1 is the normal bulk when ISC Amps are passed through to the bank. Stage 2 holds Volts at 14.1 or 14.4 Volts, depending on jumper setting, and simply tapers Amps so low that the Turnigy reads zero. There is no float. In summer, I use the 14.1V jumper.

As long as the battery is not left in a discharged state during storage I would say you are good to go, no worries.

15w 7a must be 0.7 amp and can be left on continuous.

This. If your battery temp gets above 108, then I'd shut off the converter at least during the day. You can buy a timer that turns it off during the day and back on at night.

What are you confused about?

I leave them disconnected 24/7 for 2-3 weeks at a time during the summer whenever daytime temps are running above about 85 degrees.

This does not cause AGM batteries to become discharged enough to create sulphation since AGM battery intrinsic rest voltage holds up so well. IMHO, this is the best reason for using AGM batteries. The next best reason to use them, IMHO, is because they absorb charge faster at any applied terminal voltage due to their very low internal resistance ... that's why I can get away with using the same float and bulk voltage ... ~13.8 volts from a stock converter.

Phil what do you mean by hot (day/night) and how long do you leave them disconnected etc? It might help answer the questions these Arizona folks have about floating in a hot climate. (except for adding water! )

Some of you know my RV battery setup, that is to me at times a mystery as to why it works - especially so after reading long discussions like this one:

Just a stock Parallax converter plus engine alternator in combination, taking care of two balance-paralleled 12 volt Group 29 Interstate deep cycle AGM wheelchair batteries. The batteries are in their 8th year, yet they seemed the same as ever in Quatzsite and Western Arizona for two weeks ending last Monday. I leave the converter connected up to them all the time when the RV is at home between trips except for hot days in the summer. :h

13.2 is fine in 100+ temperatures. A little more water use but you are not killing the battery like an old Magnetek at 13.8 volts. Ideal for 100F battery might be 12.7 or 13.0 but 13.2 will be fine.

It is the battery temperature that matters not the high for the day.
